Japanese trade officials are planning to resume working-level talks with their US counterparts on a free-trade pact. They'll try again to narrow their differences on key issues ahead of a ministerial meeting on the Trans-Pacific Partnership later this month. Japan's minister in charge of TPP talks, Akira Amari, met US Trade Representative Michael Froman in late September. But they failed to agree on a tariff structure for 5 agricultural categories and auto parts.

(VEN) - The US Department of Commerce (DOC) recently announced that Vietnamese shrimp companies will have to pay the highest tariffs ever for exporting shrimp to the US. Vietnam Economic News’ Nguyen Tien Dung spoke with Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) Deputy Chairman Nguyen Huu Dung about this issue. What is your assessment of the anti-dumping tariffs that Vietnamese shrimp imports will be subjected to following the recent DOC announcement?

HANOI, Oct. 6 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam and Russia are striving to bring the bilateral trade revenue to 7 billion U.S. dollars in 2015 and 10 billion U.S. dollars in 2020, said Doan Duy Khuong, vice chairman of Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), on Monday. Ministers from 12 TPP negotiation member states, including Japan and the United States, will gather for three days in Sydney starting Oct. 25 in hopes of ironing out the massive free trade accord.

SYDNEY (Jiji Press) — Japan, the United States and 10 other countries taking part in Trans-Pacific Partnership free trade negotiations will hold a ministerial session in Sydney on Oct. 25-27, according to Australian Trade and Investment Minister Andrew Robb. The 12 countries aim to break the impasse for an envisioned broad accord in November.

The DOC released the final decision on the anti-dumping duties on warmwater shrimp imports after administrative review from February 1, 2012 to January 31, 2013. The US imports 90 percent of its shrimp imports, mostly coming from Indonesia, Ecuador, India, Vietnam and Thailand. Ecuador led the countries in shrimp exports to the US in the first seven months of 2014, followed by Indonesia, India and Vietnam. However, Ecuador and Indonesia now have advantages over the other exporters because they have not been affected by the POR 8.

India has imposed anti-dumping duty on Phenol imported from the U.S. and Chinese Taipei to safeguard the interest of domestic manufacturers. The duty, ranging from $47.29 to $196.24 a tonne, has been levied for five years, a circular of the Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) said. Giving reasons for imposing anti-dumping duty, the CBEC said phenol had been exported to India from the United States and Taipei below their normal value, thus, resulting in the dumping of the product.

India has seen a surge of synthetic textile products imports from China after imposing an anti-dumping duty on a key raw material for such products, Chemicals and Petrochemicals Manufacturers Association said on Friday. India imposed anti-dumping duties in the range of $19.05-117.09 a tonne depending on the country of import imposed on purified terephtalic acid (used for making synthetic textile fibres) from China, Korea, the European Union and Thailand.
