More and more Italian textile firms are investing in Vietnam to take advantage of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and export to the European market, experts said.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, from September 4 to September 17, six enterprises appliedfor certification with a volume of approximately 4.3 thousand tonnes of fragrant rice exported to the EU. Rice exports including fragrant rice to the EU will continue to increase despite the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic from now until the end of the year.

Dozens of French groups and companies joined an online conference on September 28 that sought to promote French investment in Vietnam after the COVID-19.

A virtual conference on trading in fruits and vegetables between Vietnam and the Netherlands was held on September 29 to match Vietnamese suppliers and potential Dutch importers, wholesalers and retailers.

In one month and a half, the amount of Vietnamese goods and products that benefit from EVFTA’s preferential treatment is equivalent to that of the CPTPP throughout 2019.

A teleconference was held on September 25 to discuss the implementation of the European Union-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), with the trade deal expected to provide new investment and business opportunities for EU businesses in Vietnam.

A month since the Vietnam-EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) took effect (August 1, 2020), seafood exports to the EU market recorded a clear increase compared to the previous month.

Under the EU - Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), the EU provides Vietnam with a quota of 80,000 tonnes of rice at a zero-per-cent tax rate per year. In order to create conditions for rice exporters, especially varieties of fragrant rice, in making the best use of the tariff preference, just over a month after the EVFTA comes into effect, the Government issued Decree No. 103/2020 / ND-CP on September 4, 2020, on the certification of fragrant rice varieties exported to the EU.

Talking to Customs News, trade expert Pham Tat Thang said that the European Union-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) will have a great impact on exports in particular and Vietnam's economy in general. However, this is a long-term impact, so we should not expect the dramatic change of EVFTA for the exports in the second half of the year.
