Signed more than one and a half years ago, the Vietnam-Eurasian Economic Union Free Trade Agreement (VN-EAEU FTA) has led to a rapid growth in bilateral trade between Vietnam and the EAEU. The FTA has opened up a market of 183 million people, with a combined GDP of US$2.2 trillion for the Vietnamese firms.

A signing ceremony of a Joint Statement on the conclusion of the negotiations of the Free Trade Agreements (FTA) between Viet Nam and the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan was held in Phu Quoc Island on December 15. Under the witness of PM Nguyen Tan Dung, Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang and Minister for Trade of the Eurasian Economic Commission Andrey Slepnev signed the Joint Statement.

The 8th FTA negotiation round between Vietnam and Customs Union of Belarus – Kazakhstan – Russia took place from December 8 – 12, 2014 in Conference Centre of Kien Giang, Phu Quoc island district, under the co-chairmanship of Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang and Minister in charge for Trade of Asia – Europe Economic Committee Andrei A. Slepnhev.

From March 31 to April 4, 2014, in Almaty, Kazakhstan, the 5th negotiation round of FTA between Vietnam and Customs Union of Belarus – Kazakhstan – Russia was held under the chairmanship of Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam Vu Huy Hoang and Minister in charge for Trade in Asia – Europe Economic Committee Andrei A. Slepnhev.
