Vietnam is currently among the top 20 largest investment destinations, while Australia is the 15th largest investor in the world. However, Australia's FDI in Vietnam for many years has been reported to be modest, accounting for only 0.5% of the total FDI value in Vietnam, and ranks 19th in the list of foreign-invested countries in Vietnam.
Meanwhile, Vietnam and Australia have great opportunities to strengthen bilateral investment relations. That is an opportunity from the synergistic impact of new Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) between Vietnam and Australia and with other trading partners. It is also Vietnam's advantage in catching up with Australia’s investment flows diverted from China and some other regions under the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and recent trade tensions...
To be able to turn these opportunities into specific Australia’s investment projects in Vietnam, it is necessary to study and understand the issues that are preventing Australian investors from newly investing or expanding investments in Vietnam. The Research Report “Australia's direct investment in Vietnam - Actual efficiency assessment and Policy solutions” is built based on the analysis of actual statistics and the Australian Business Surveys/Investigation in Vietnam and in Australia on the assessment of Vietnam's business and investment environment. The findings and recommendations from this Report will help Vietnam increase the efficiency of Australia's FDI attraction in the future.
