Business Association Handbook: 09 steps for an effective policy recommendation
07/02/2018 362Developing policy recommendations is an important part of the policy advocacy activities of business associations with competent state agencies.
In the time coming, the Government may review a wide range of industry development policies, consider revising and issuing new policies for each industry to take advantage of opportunities while ensuring compliance with new trade commitments (especially new free trade agreements such as Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement TPP-CPTPP, Vietnam - EU Free Trade Agreement EVFTA). Business associations face a huge opportunity for policy advocacy, participating in the process of planning these new policies, thereby reflecting the voices, interests and desires of enterprises in the sector about the related policies.
However, building appropriate, scientific, well-grounded and convincing policy recommendations for this policy advocacy is a big challenge for many business associations in Vietnam.
This Handbook is prepared on the basis of practical experience in the process of developing research to serve 02 policy recommendations for 2 sectors (retail and wood export processing) by the WTO Center and Integration - The Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry performs with the support of the Asian Foundation and the Australian Embassy in Vietnam. With brief contents, in specific order, clear instructions and practical examples from 02 policy recommendations made, the Handbook will provide Vietnam Business Associations with Basic skills to develop necessary policy recommendations effectively.
