US Announces Anti-Dumping Duties On Mexican Steel

The US Department of Commerce (DOC) has set anti-dumping duties of up to 66.7 percent on imports of reinforcing steel bars (rebar) from Mexican companies.
The 66.7 percent rate is to be applied to producers Grupo Acerero and Grupo Simec, the DOC said. All other producers/exporters in Mexico face a final dumping margin of 20.58 percent.
Meanwhile, the DOC said that it has overturned a preliminary decision to impose anti-dumping duties on Turkish reinforcing steel bars. It found, however, that Turkish producers and exporters received countervailable subsidies ranging from 0.74 percent to 1.25 percent.
In 2013, imports of rebar from Mexico and Turkey were valued at an estimated USD182.1m and USD381.3m, respectively, the DOC said.
