DOC confirms no Vietnam shrimp dumping

The US Department of Commerce (DOC) has concluded that all 33 Vietnamese businesses do not dump their frozen warm-water shrimp products on the US market.
The conclusion was announced on September 10 after the DOC had completed its administrative review of the anti-dumping duty order on certain frozen warm water shrimp from Vietnam for the 7 th period of review (POR 7). It means that all 33 Vietnamese shrimp exporters will enjoy a zero tax rate on their shrimp products imported into the US during the period from February 1, 2011 to January 31, 2012.
In 2004, the US imposed an average anti-dumping tax rate of 4.57 percent on frozen warm water shrimp imported from Vietnam following POR 1 from July 2004 to January 2006.
The Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Processors (VASEP) filed a petition to the DOC, and after the seven periods of review (POR) carried by DOC, this is the first time it has acknowledged that Vietnamese exporters do not dump their products on the US market.
VASEP also said Vietnam earned over 337 million USD from shrimp exports to the US, accounting for one fourth of the country’s total shrimp exports in the first seven months of this year.-VNA
