Vietnam is currently Cuba’s second-largest trade partner and largest foreign investor in Asia, a forum promoting trade between the two countries in Ho Chi Minh City on May 12 heard.
Two-way trade turnover reached $250-350 million during the 2015-2020 period.
There is ample space for Vietnam and Cuba to step up commercial and investment cooperation, especially in farming and food processing, according to participants.
Cuban Deputy Minister of Agriculture Maury Hechavarria Bermudez said Cuba hopes to strengthen joint efforts with Vietnam in producing rice and coffee products, manufacturing machinery for agricultural production, expanding export markets, attracting financial investment, and promoting the research and development of new energy.
At the forum, the Cuban Ministry of Agriculture introduced priority projects seeking investment, focusing on fertilizers, pesticides, and agricultural machinery.
