The UK is poised for a trade deal with Australia as a result of the Brexit victory.

Before Christmas, the UK and Australia are expected to agree on a historic multibillion-pound Brexit trade deal, which will open up new job opportunities for young people in Australia.

Anne-Marie Trevelyan, the Secretary of State for International Trade, stated that “significant progress” has been made toward completing the agreement.

“We are almost there,” she said after a meeting in London with her Australian counterpart, Dan Tehan.

It would make a wonderful Christmas present for both countries.”

The prospect of a free trade agreement with Australia bolsters the two countries’ burgeoning relationship.

“We want UK businesses to trade freely, boosting our exports and setting new global standards,” Ms Trevelyan added.

Last year, trade with Australia was worth nearly £14 billion, and this figure is expected to rise as the new agreement takes effect.

The agreement will benefit British cars, Scotch whisky, and confectionery, making it cheaper to export to the world’s sixth largest country.

Britons under the age of 35 will be able to travel and work more freely in Australia under the terms of the agreement.

It comes as the UK’s new trade deal with Norway went into effect yesterday, promising the economy a £22 billion boost.

Exporters will be able to benefit from zero-tariffs on their products as a result of the agreement, which will help boost the UK fish industry.

Because of lower tariffs on goods sent over, Norwegians can now enjoy British products such as West Country Farmhouse Cheddar, Cumberland sausages, and Cambridge Favorite strawberries.

It will also reduce red tape for exporters, saving time and money for businesses, while UK workers will be able to work in Norway and those who want to relocate will be able to do so under new rules.

“Our ambitious deal with Norway, which goes into effect today, demonstrates exactly what the UK can achieve as an independent, sovereign deal-making nation,” Ms Trevelyan said.

“In 2020, trade with our Norwegian neighbors was valued at £20.1 billion.

Under the new deal, we expect this to expand, supporting key industries and creating jobs across the UK.

“This agreement with Norway is just one of many reasons to be optimistic, and I anticipate a five-star year of UK trade in 2022.”

“It will kick off deals with some of the world’s largest economies and assist British businesses in selling their fines,” says the statement.
