Iran to export electricity to Syria, Lebanon: official
14/05/2012 85TEHRAN, May 13 (Xinhua) -- An official in Iran's Energy Ministry said Sunday that the Islamic republic will start exporting electricity to Syria and Lebanon in the near future, the official IRNA news agency reported.
Supplying power to Lebanon was among the issues on which the two countries agreed few months ago, said Abdolhamid Frazam Behboodi, adding that Iran is ready to export electricity to Lebanon as of next week.
Iranian Energy Minister Majid Namjou said Saturday that the Iranian government plans to turn the country into a center for the transit of electricity in the region.
