HCMC – Although 19 Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) negotiation rounds have completed, many experts said that the intellectual property issue has yet to make improvements and remains an obstacle during the TPP negotiation process. Pham Duy Nghia, head of the law faculty of the University of Economics, recently told the Daily that the U.S. has applied high standards of intellectual property right it has obtained during trade partnership negotiations with South Korea.

South Korea is undecided on joining the U.S.-led Trans-Pacific Partnership, a senior South Korean trade official said Thursday. "A decision has not been made. We want to comprehensively review opinions from various local industries before making a final decision," Choi Kyung Lim, deputy minister for trade, industry and energy told a group of foreign correspondents. On Monday, the Chosun Ilbo, a Seoul daily, quoted a high-ranking government official as saying that South Korea has decided to join the TPP and is studying the potential impact.

The US Department of Commerce (DOC) has concluded that all 33 Vietnamese businesses do not dump their frozen warm-water shrimp products on the US market. The conclusion was announced on September 10 after the DOC had completed its administrative review of the anti-dumping duty order on certain frozen warm water shrimp from Vietnam for the 7 th period of review (POR 7). It means that all 33 Vietnamese shrimp exporters will enjoy a zero tax rate on their shrimp products imported into the US during the period from February 1, 2011 to January 31, 2012.

Tokyo, Sept. 9 (Jiji Press)--Japan would basically welcome South Korea if it decides to participate in Trans-Pacific Partnership free trade negotiations, Yasutoshi Nishimura, senior vice minister at the Cabinet Office, said Monday. 

South Korea has been under final review to join the US-led Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), a multilateral trade pact in the Pacific region, a local daily reported on Monday. The South Korean government decided to join the TPP, and has been reviewing the schedule and potential impact, the local newspaper Chosun Ilbo reported, citing senior government officials.

Participation in the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP) would create favourable conditions to boost Vietnam's textile and garment sector as the third key industry of the country, according to industry insiders.This is also the view that Deputy General Secretary of the Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS) Nguyen Van Tuan shared at a recent workshop on the TPP and impacts on Vietnam 's textile and garment enterprise.

HANOI, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- Thailand's recent decision to unleash its huge rice inventory of about 17 million tons has negatively impacted many rice exporters, including those in Vietnam, according to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA). Accordingly, the government of Thailand reduced the price of the 100B rice, which is equivalent to Vietnam's 5-percent-broken rice, from 430 U.S. dollars per ton to 380 dollars per ton.
