China has requested that a Dispute Settlement Panel is convened under World Trade Organization (WTO) rules to examine several antidumping investigations by the US Department of Commerce. China alleges that the Department of Commerce did not follow WTO obligations in its rulings on several products imported from China. Multilayer wood flooring and wooden bedroom furniture are among the products that the US investigated for antidumping.

Mr Lamy, who stood down from the WTO in September, also said that cutting tariffs was no longer the force it once was in advancing trade, in comments to Fairfax newspapers.

May 29 (Reuters) - Three U.S. sugar refiners, including Domino Sugar and Imperial Sugar, have this week raised refined sugar prices by up to a third, as supplies tighten and U.S. regulators consider imposing duties on Mexican imports. United Sugars Corp and American Sugar Refining Group's (ASR) Domino Foods Inc issued new price lists to customers in letters on Tuesday, increasing industrial prices to $37 per hundredweight (cwt), or 37 cents per lb, through Sept. 30, 2015.

The United States has announced affirmative preliminary determinations for anti-dumping duties on imports of non-oriented electrical steel (NOES) from China, Germany, Japan, South Korea, Sweden, and Taiwan. The US Department of Commerce (DOC) said on May 16, 2014, that NOES is being sold in the US by exporters in these nations at "less than fair value."

Solar analyst Bridge to India’s managing director, Tobias Engelmeier, has warned anti-dumping duties will halt India’s solar industry for up to two years. India published definitive anti-dumping duties on the US, Chinese and Malaysian solar manufacturers on 23 May. Currently 80% of modules used in India are foreign imports, according to Bridge to India. 

BEIJING, May 30 (Xinhua) -- China's Ministry of Commerce on Friday decided to levy anti-dumping duties on perchlorethylene (PCE) from the European Union and the United States starting Saturday. Companies that import such products will pay anti-dumping duties to customs in the next five years. Duty rates will range between 27.6 percent and 71.8 percent, the ministry said. PCE is a chlorinated solvent and used extensively in dry cleaning. Other applications include vapor degreasing and use as a chemical intermediate and processing solvent.

(Reuters) - The United States and Japan are discussing possible emergency protection for Japanese farmers in case a Pacific trade deal leads to a surge in U.S. imports, a senior Japanese official said on Friday. Japan's Deputy Chief Negotiator Hiroshi Oe said both Japan and the United States were navigating a difficult domestic situation, with farmers in both countries keeping a close watch on discussions, and it was not easy to narrow gaps.

Japanese steelmakers, which yesterday reported foreign imports at a nine-year high for April, are weighing action to stem the flow of steel from abroad, risking heightened tensions with trading partners South Korea and China.
