US electrical steel producers are satisfied with the decision of the US Commerce Department to impose duties on imports of grain-oriented electrical steel (GOES) from the Czech Republic. David A. Hartquist, counsel to the domestic steel industry, said: “We are pleased by the Commerce Department’s announcement that grain-oriented electrical steel from the Czech Republic is being dumped in the United States at significant margins.

Figures from the Viet Nam Food Association also showed that the price of five-per cent broken rice grains from the country was worth $445 per tonne last September 19. The call was made at a conference that the Viet Nam Trade Promotion Agency held yesterday to seek ways for Vietnamese companies to optimise business advantages and expand further into the EU market.

NEW DELHI: The deadlock at WTO continued with India sticking to its stand of a simultaneous deal on trade facilitation and food security at the Agriculture Committee meeting on Tuesday in Geneva.  India reiterated its position that adopting the trade facilitation text should be delayed until the end of the year and a permanent solution on public stockholding issue should be agreed by then. 

WASHINGTON, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. Commerce Department on Tuesday set preliminary subsidy rates on imports of 53-foot domestic dry containers from China, signaling that it may impose punitive duties on the products. The department made its preliminary affirmative determination that Chinese producers and exporters of dry containers received countervailing subsidy rates ranging from 7.13 percent to 10.46 percent.

The European Union renewed for another five years tariffs on ammonium nitrate from Russia to protect EU producers such as Poland’s Zaklady Azotowe Pulawy SA from the threat of unfair price undercutting. The EU re-imposed the duties as high as 47.07 euros ($60.46) a metric ton against Russian exporters including OAO EuroChem for allegedly having sold the fertilizer in the bloc below cost, a practice known as dumping. EU anti-dumping protection against ammonium nitrate from Russia dates to 1995.

(Reuters) - Japan and the United States failed to make progress in bilateral talks, both sides said on Wednesday, dealing a blow for hopes of sealing an ambitious multilateral trade deal this year. "Japan made a flexible proposal, but we weren't able to make further progress," Trade Minister Akira Amari told reporters on Wednesday evening after two days of talks in Washington. "Further negotiations are undecided."
