Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh led a Vietnamese delegation to attend the ASEAN Summits with Japan, the US and Canada in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on November 12.

On November 24, 2021, the Government of Canada submitted to Parliament a Notice of Intent to enter into negotiations toward a Canada‑ASEAN FTA, in accordance with the amended Policy on Tabling of Treaties in Parliament.

Today, the launch of negotiations for an ASEAN-Canada Free Trade Agreement (FTA) was officially announced at the 10th ASEAN Economic Ministers – Canada Consultation.
