Preliminary Report on Results of the 2016 Rural, Agricultural and Fishery Census

The 2016 Rural, Agricultural and Fishery Census was conducted nationwide on July 1, 2016 according to the Prime Minister's Decision No.1225/QD-TTg dated July 31, 2015. The main objective of the Census is to collect information to assess the situation, analyze changing trends, develop plans and strategies for agricultural and rural development, to improve people's living standards, rural residence, and at the same time to assess the results of implementation of some contents of national target programs on agricultural and rural industrialization and modernization and new rural construction.
Large-scale censuses involve more than 17 million households surveyed in rural areas and households with urban agriculture, forestry, salt production and aquaculture activities; 33,488 farms; 8,978 CPCs. In order to organize the Census, the Central Census Steering Committee at all levels mobilized 180 thousand investigators, team leaders and supervisors.
