Japan crisis to have short-term impact on trade: China
27/03/2011 25Beijing, Mar 22 (PTI) China, the largest trading partner of Japan in terms of imports and exports, today said the massive earthquake followed Tsunami and radiation crisis will have short-term impact on the bilateral trade.
"The bilateral trade will be affected by the earthquake because not only the two countries have close trade ties, but also there are many Japan-funded companies in China, which import a large amount of raw materials and parts from Japan," Yao Jian, spokesman of Chinese Ministry of Commerce (MoC), said.
Yao said China-Japan economic and trade relations are strong, as Japan is China's third largest trade partner, the largest source of imports and the fifth largest destination of exports.
According to last month's report released by the Japan External Trade Organisation (JETRO), Japan's total trade with China (imports and exports combined) rose 30 per cent year-on-year to USD 301.
